Back in November, we introduced you to Hisanori Takahashi, a 34-year-old, Japanese lefty trying to break into MLB after spending his entire 10-year career with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball. On January 28, Rotoworld reported the following:
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Orioles, Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox and Giants are among the teams with interest in Japanese left-hander Hisanori Takahashi.
MLBFP’s Japanese Baseball correspondent, Brandon Siefken of Japan Baseball News, just emailed me some insider information as to why Takahashi has yet to sign. The word is that he is insisting on being a starter. Most MLB scouts, Siefken included, do not think he is worthy of starting pitcher money.
Who else thinks that the team that signs Takahashi will be “promising” a shot at the rotation?
